Buisness Plans. Just because
it's a small buisness doesn't mean you have to plan small.
The best advice for writing a buisness plan is to keep your
ego in check. Don't hover over the calculator saying things
like "If I sell only 10% of the stock I'll make...."
as this form of planning often overlooks factors such as customer
demand, usefulness of the product and the actual responce
rate of the customers.

Apart from your main buisness
activity, can you offer any related services? This will grow
your buisness and make you less dependant on a single line
of income. Think - what other services ralated to yours do
your clients often require?

Choose your buisness name
carefully. It must describe your services. "Smith Consulting"
could be any service, but "Smith Investment Consulting"
tells the customer exactly what you offer. A descriptive name
will increase word of mouth advertising as well!

Don't
throw everything behind your buisness until you've tested
the waters first. Start a small scale version online and get
a few customers and see what the actual realities of the work
are. A small investment of £200 or $200 could save you
from losing thousands!

Decide on your prices carefully. You have to make enough profit to earn a living, but also have a price that is competitive. Check out your competition, what do they charge?
